State Small Animal Laws

In many States gerbils and other rodents do not receive the same respect and protection under the law that a dog or cat do. Where there are laws covering housing, size, and the number of animal that can occupy a certain space for dogs and cats; often these laws do not extend to gerbils and other rodents. If we truly care enough about gerbils to own one then we should care about the laws that govern their humane care and treatment. Perhaps, each of us should take a look at the laws of our state, and if they do not adequately protect gerbils and all types of pets, we should consider speaking to our State Representatives. Laws can and have been changed by a few good people who have the guts to speak out!
