Toenail Loss

If your gerbil has accidentally lost a toenail, or if her toenail is loose, there may be a fair amount of bleeding. This kind of injury almost always heals without any intervention. If you are concerned about the bleeding, you may use some styptic powder or call the veterinarian.

The toenail will eventually grow back. The new toenail may look stubby rather than sharp.
